Make By Design were appointed in early March 2017 by Kier Construction to design and construct new shopfronts for a new Hotel Indigo.

The new hotel is located on Queen Street, close to the city’s central business district where major attractions include Cardiff Castle, the Principality Stadium and key transport links.

​

The site was formerly an office block, but Maven investors have funded the transformation and redevelopment of the building into a boutique hotel with 122 bedrooms.

​

The original Dominions arcade beneath the hotel has been retained and enhanced and now includes the hotel reception and lounge as well as a dedicated entrance and lift to the Marco Pierre White restaurant on the top floor.

Make By Design were tasked with matching existing moulding's from the previous shopfronts and replicating in the new design.

Works included:

• x4 New shopfront bays

• x1 Bay with bi-folding doors

• All manufactured from solid saplele, all mouldings and frames machined in Make By Design factory

• Lead lighted glass above doors

• New entrance doors

• Toughened glass balustrade

• All painting works to shopfronts.

A tough project with difficult logistical challenges, works were successfully completed in December 2017.
