Thames Valley Park, Reading

Make By Design were awarded the contract to design, manufacture and install the specialist joinery package at the former Microsoft Building at the Thames Valley Business Park, Reading.

Working with our valued client and fit out specialists, Overbury over a 16 week design and build programme, Make  By Design designed, manufactured and installed the following items of joinery:

New Reception Desk

Feature soft seating with integrated plenum design

Feature Planters

Feature Moss Wall Cladding to atrium Balustrade with Egger perfect sense cladding panels and integrated LED lighting.

Feature Booth Seating incorporating fabric made from recycled bottles

Feature Touch Down Desks

Feature Teapoints with Neolith Beton Worksurfaces and Egger Perfect Sense Finishes

Bespoke Feature Mirrors with integrated lighting

Various Egger finishes were specified throughout the scheme along with a huge amount of hardwood Tulip for the seating and planters. In order to qualify for the BREEM outstanding that this building was aiming for, all materials supplied on this project had to be FSC certified which as an accredited FSC member we were able to support this scheme with.

Other features to the project included new acoustic cladding to the four risers in the main atrium which all feature FSC certified Birch Plywood.

Without doubt the jewel in the building's crown is the use of the feature moss cladding in the main atrium. A first for Make By Design but again this project is another great example of Make By Design's ability to incorporate multiple discipline materials and manufacture's into our service, with the supply and installation of such specialist work as well as other trades such as Neoltith sintered stone, Camira fabric upholstery and various metalwork incorporated within our joinery package.

Despite many challenges of working during the  COVID19 global pandemic, works were completed on time in August 2021.
