British Standards Institute,
Make By Design were appointed in the winter of 2017 to construct the new curved reception counter for the British Standards Institute (BSI) in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
The counter incorporates an 'S' shape curved profile which was CNC machined from MDF, laminated with white laminate and then clad in solid oak. The counter also incorporates two seat units which sit ontop of the bench which were also supplied by Make By Design.
The counter also incorporates two 'signing in' units which were formed from MDF and laminated with Formica Color Core giving the units a seamless through colour.
It was integral to the designers to ensure the seamless integration between the curved wall and our counter so prior to construction Make By Design supplied the builder with a raceway template to construct the new partitions too. The end result was a beautifully formed and seamless counter.
Works were completed on schedule in February 2018.
